How HYPE works

Trade. Talk. Compare.

Trade

Every move, shared.

Talk

Ask why, right on the trade.

In your groups, every trade shows the amount and gets its own conversation.

Compare

See who's actually good.

Your group ranked by % return after fees. Past results, not a prediction.

FAQ

What is HYPE?

HYPE is an app for buying, selling and talking crypto with your friends. Your trades become part of the conversation: friends react, ask about them in your group chat and see how everyone's doing on the group scoreboard.

Everyone trades their own money from their own wallet. HYPE doesn't pool money or invest it for you.

I already use a crypto exchange. Why should I use HYPE?

HYPE is about trading with your friends and talking crypto, in the app and at the bar. Keep your existing account and put a little aside in HYPE. See what your friends are buying, ask why they sold, and follow how everyone's doing. Your own money, with your favourite people along for the ride.

Do I need to know crypto to join?

You don't need to know how to set up a wallet or how a blockchain works. Sign in with email or Google and get started. Got that one friend who's always talking crypto? Bring them along. Ask questions, compare notes and get familiar with what you're buying. You decide which trades to make.

Can I bring my friends?

Please do. Sign up, name your group and confirm your email, and you'll get a link to share. Friends who sign up through it join your group on the waitlist, so we can invite you together.

Signing up on your own is fine too; you can start or join a group later. Once you're in, you set up the group in the app and everyone accepts their own invite before anything is shared there.

What can I trade?

We're starting with Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin through cbBTC. cbBTC (Coinbase Wrapped BTC) is a token on the Base network that's backed by bitcoin held by Coinbase. You own the token, not bitcoin itself.

We plan to add more over time, from established names to selected smaller coins like Aerodrome (AERO), each after we've checked it can be traded at a fair price. Smaller coins are riskier: our checks don't protect you from scams, sudden crashes or losing what you put in.

Who can see my trades?

Every confirmed trade appears in HYPE's public feed and on your profile with the coin, buy or sell, and the price, but not the amount. In the groups you belong to, members also see the amount and can talk about the trade. Your profile shows what you hold and your % return, never your balances.

These rules cover what HYPE shows. The trades themselves happen on Base, a public blockchain, where anyone can look up a wallet's activity.

How does the scoreboard work?

Each group has a scoreboard that ranks members by % return over the last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or all time, after trading fees. Because it's a percentage, someone trading $200 can beat someone trading $20,000. Adding or withdrawing money doesn't count as a gain or a loss, and anyone too new for a period isn't ranked yet. Past results, not a prediction.

How do I add and withdraw money?

For now, HYPE runs as a demo with virtual money, so there's nothing to add or withdraw.

For live trading, we're planning to work with a payment partner: you'd pay in with your own money and receive USDC, a digital dollar, in your HYPE wallet, and withdraw to a bank account in your name. Payment methods, currencies, limits and timing will be confirmed before live trading opens.

Is the money in my own wallet?

Yes. When you sign in, a wallet is created for your account through Privy, our wallet provider. HYPE can't make trades or withdrawals for you: you approve each one yourself in the app.

Access to the wallet comes with your sign-in, so keep your email or Google account secure. Lost your phone? Sign in again on a new device. It's not a bank account and it isn't insured, and crypto can lose value.

What does trading cost?

HYPE charges a trading fee. Third-party fees and other costs may also apply when funding your wallet, executing trades or withdrawing money. Before you confirm each trade, you'll see a review showing HYPE's fee, applicable third-party fees and estimated execution costs.

When can we get in?

We're opening HYPE gradually and inviting friend groups together. The first invitations are to the demo: real accounts, groups and chat, with virtual money. Live trading with real money comes later, once our checks are done. We'll email you when your invite is ready.

Bring your friends.

Sign up, then send them the link. HYPE is more fun when your group is in it.
